Squatters Rights still causing problems
This is something that does not come up much these days, but squatters can be a total nightmare for the property owner. Imagine buying a house and doing it up, you get the stage where you are ready to move in, only to find that there is a bunch of squatters inside and there is little you can do about it.
It seems that even local councils are sympathetic to the squatters cause as they recommend to any would be squatter to read the guide known as the Squatters Handbook, for a mere £2 a would be squatter can get all sorts of information. This includes what to say if they are caught, they are a just clearing the drains!
All that a house owner can do is apply for a court order and be prepared to fork out a few thousand pounds in the clean up operation.
