Giant Greenhouses come to the UK
Commercial property is a very funny area of the property business, this is mainly because of the cheap availability of ready made units and the fact that where companies have moved on from the premises these may not be suitable for other businesses.
But to buck the trend in Kent there is a commercial property being constructed which could change the face of the way that vegetables are grown in the UK.
The buildings are being called Thanet Earth and will cover a 220 acre site with seven 140 metre long greenhouses and will cost around £80 million to build.
This complex when it is up and running will have the capability to supply up to fifteen per cent of the UK’s salad crop. But at the same time because of the state of the art power and heating system will even provide enough surplus energy to power up to fifty thousand homes.
