What to ask potential tenants

These days finding a new tenant for a property is something to celebrate but even in times where the financial crisis is beginning to bite, there are still some precautions to take when renting out your property otherwise it could be the beginning of a long nightmare.

In order to ensure that the future tenant of the property is right for you, there is a need to ask questions and meet face to face, before it goes any further. Some sample questions are below, and it should be noted that anyone who will not meet and answer your questions should not be considered as a future tenant for your property.

Full Name
Phone numbers, mobile phone, home phone, and business phone number
The potential tenants reason for moving
Ask them when they are looking to move into a new
The number of people they live with now, and the number they intend on living with
Ask them if they have children and their ages
Ask them if they have any pets
Ask them if they smoke
Let them know that they will be required to fill out your credit background check
Ask them to provide you with Landlord References
