Dog charity wants landlords to accept pets

It is not just people, who are suffering from the housing crisis, but the family pet suffers too and in particular, the family dog, this is because many property owners will not allow pets when they rent out a property to tenants.

In a recent survey by the Dogs Trust, it was found that seventy eight per cent of pet owner found it difficult to find suitable accommodation simple because they had some sort of pet.

The main reasons for not allowing a pet is that many tenants are on short term lets or that the property owner has had some bad experience with tenants with pets. These reasons are valid but not all pet owners are the same, it is the same as those tenants with children too.

The Dogs Trust will be launching a new campaign called “Lets with Pets” early in 2009, where they hope to persuade property owners to reconsider their position on pets.
