House prices also go up
In these days of doom and gloom regarding the housing market, it’s nice to find something that can give the average homeowner a little bit of hope and optimism. According to the Halifax who has recently published a report on the house prices, there is in fact a top ten of cities in the UK where houses have shown a very healthy increase over the past five years.
Top UK House Price Rises. First price is the Sept 02 price, second is the Sept 07 price and the third figure is the increase.

Newry, Northern Ireland £90,566 - £233,075 157%
Lisburn, Northern Ireland £96,507 - £242,873 152%
Londonderry, Northern Ireland £79,459 - £184,129 132%
Bradford, Yorks & Humber £59,276 - £136,755 131%
Dundee, Scotland £66,094 - £152,050 130%
Aberdeen, Scotland £89,229 - £200,721 125%

This just goes to prove that it is the long term that needs to be looked at and not what is happening in the short term.
