Tents torn down in Paris
A makeshift village of tents along side the river Seine by a homelessness action group has been brushed away by police before it could even get established. This was done last year by the same group who used just a few red tents in the centre on the city, but this last protest was going to be even more spectacular.
What followed was nothing but chaos, the police moved in to clear the tents, the homeless people and their supporters, but inevitably there were clashes and at one time the police used tear gas, before sweeping in and clearing the area. But in the process one protester was actually push over the side into the freezing waters of the Seine, this provoked the crown who began to boo at the police.
At the end of the day nothing good has really come from this action, the homeless are still just that, homeless.
