Mortgage details freely available on Website

With ID fraud being on everyone’s mind, you would have thought that you mortgage details would be held on a secure data base where nobody could get their hands or eyes on them. Unfortunately you would be wrong, as it seems your mortgage details, can be purchases for just £3 and its the government who are selling them.

The Land Registry Website offers this service to anyone willing to pay the £3 fee; in return the search will return details of the Mortgage Lender, Value, Payments and most importantly your signature. The Land Registry denies that these details can assist ID fraud. But by utilising some other online help like BT and some social networking sites, it is very easy for a cunning fraudster to piece together enough information in order to commit ID fraud in your name.
